On the 26th April 2017, The Gallery Choir celebrated its 5th year of singing and performing, so of course we had a party with a celebration cake and bucks fizz!

The Gallery Choir was established in spring 2012. Many of the founding members had been involved in a former community choir, originally established as part of the Stockport Arts initiative by local singing coach Mags Lowe, and from this the Gallery Choir developed into its present form. So, we were delighted to welcome Mags to this celebration.

At the beginning, the choir had about thirty members and now five years later has doubled in size with about fifteen of its original members still singing!

When Mags felt unable to continue with the original community choir due to the imminent arrival of her lovely daughter Bella, she left us in the extremely capable hands of Lorraine Harris-Roche who upon the formation of The Gallery Choir has taken us further than we ever thought possible.

We are also fortunate to be singing in the beautiful Stockport Art Gallery which has been our home since we began.

So, our heartfelt thanks go to Mags, Lorraine and our musical accompanists over the years – Dan, Jonnie and Greg and to our wonderful choir for continuing this wonderful legacy.

Here’s to the next five years of wonderful singing and many more exciting performances.
