Bells for Peace

For those people going to 'Bells for Peace' below is some information sent through from the organisers

Hello All,

Thank you for confirming your choirs’ attendance at BELLS FOR PEACE in Cathedral Gardens on Thursday 4 July – we have 20 choirs from across Greater Manchester joining us for MIF’s Opening Event and we can’t wait to welcome each and every one of you and to see you excite the general public around you to join in with this mass singing moment!

Just a few important points to share with you:

The moment is supposed to feel really spontaneous and we would like the singing of Give Peace a Chance to feel as organic as possible – there won’t be someone leading the moment or counting you in. You can either sing in unison, or if you would like, the sopranos could sing in harmony on the high note of the chorus – it’s up to you.

We have set up a DropBox folder (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vp8ouyjpjgfhfuu/AACd2YthHrbcgK1Q1m7rlc-Ba?dl=0) which contains the sheet music and lyrics. Do let me know if you use Dropbox and I can give you access. Alternatively I can email the information across, or we have hard copies in the MIF office, which can be posted to you.

Here is a Youtube link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftE8vr0WNus&t=93s and Soundcloud link: https://soundcloud.com/yokoono/plastic-ono-band-give-peace-a-chance which are to be used as a guide, rather than a backing track.

Do not share the sheet music beyond your choir sessions and please do destroy any copies post 4 July 2019.

· Please come dressed in casual clothes (no uniform or choir branded t-shirts) in order to maintain the element of surprise;

· It would be great if each choir member could bring a bell – any sort of bell!

· On the day itself we will be asking you to arrive into Cathedral Gardens for 5.30pm (exact check in point and time TBC) and you will then be directed to an area within Cathedral Gardens.

The event begins at 6pm and will finish by 7pm.

Any questions or queries please do not hesitate to get in touch.

See you soon!
